World Wetland Day Celebration at Sirpur Lake, Indore
IKI-BMUV project āWetlands Management for Biodiversity and Climate Protectionā in collaboration with MoEF&CC, celebrated World Wetland Day 2024 on 2 February at Sirpur Lake, Indore. The event saw the esteemed presence of Secretary-General Dr. Musonda Mumba and Senior Advisor for Asia Dr. Beom Sik Yoo of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, alongside various stakeholders including government bodies, technical agencies, site managers, and concerned citizens. It also included the release of the ‘Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool ā Practitionerās Guide’ among s few other publications and exhibitions showcasing India’s wetlands conservation efforts.
Following this, from 3-5 February, the inaugural chapter of the Wetlands for LiFE Film Festival and Forum unfolded in Indore. The event featured films, competitions, panel discussions, and workshops, with a notable outcome of seven participatory short films created in just three days. This collaborative endeavour underscored a shared commitment to wetlands management and sustainable use, engaging stakeholders across sectors.
