“Planet Ocean: Tides are Changing” was the theme for the World Oceans Day 2023 celebrated worldwide on 8 June. To commemorate the day, the ‘Integrated Management of the Sundarbans and the Marine Protected Area Swatch of No Ground, Bangladesh (SoNG)’ project, collaborated with the Department of Oceanography and International Centre for Ocean Governance (ICOG) of Dhaka university (DU), National Oceanographic and Maritime Institute (NOAMI), and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) organised a rally and seminar.  The purpose of the celebration was to increase public awareness of the pressing global concerns such as climate change, plastic pollution, global warming, the protection of marine resources and biodiversity, and maritime dangers.   The celebration kicked off with a colourful rally inaugurated by Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU).   A seminar titled; “Revealing the Potentials of Blue Economy” was also organised at DU. Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, was present as the Chief Guest.
