On November 10th, 2022, the Secretariat of theĀ Partnership on Transparency in the Paris AgreementĀ (PATPA) hosted its 27th Partnership Meeting on the side-lines of the COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. This yearā€™s second Partnership Meeting brought together negotiators and practitioners from partner countries and international organizations to discuss the future collaboration on implementing the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF), collectively identify key issues and priorities of transparency support by PATPA and learn about PATPA activities in 2022 and the outlook for 2023.

The founding members of PATPA, Germany, Republic of Korea and South Africa, highlighted key take aways such as the importance of theĀ transition to the ETF and its full implementation, which is becoming the main priority, in line with the main objective of the COP 27 and the role of ETF for the success of the Global Stocktake in 2023. Participants also had the time to jointly reflect, under a negotiatorsā€™ point of view, on the difficulties that countries face in implementing the provisions of the ETF and developed solutions together.

Participants were invited to mention the priority areas for future support from PATPA, which were listed as provision of capacity development support on NDC tracking, GHG inventory and MRV of mitigation actions, BTR preparation, as well as adaptation reporting.
