National Conference on the Working Plan Code 2023 Organised for Working Plan Implementing Officers in India
The National Conference on the Working Plan Code 2023 brought together Working Plan Implementing Officers from all Indian states and Union Territories (UTs) on 6 November 2023. Hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and the Sustainable Management of Forest Ecosystem Services Project of GIZ India, the conference aimed to familiarise participants with the newly revised NWPC 2023. Mr. Chandra Prakash Goyal, Director General of Forests and Special Secretary (DGF&SS) at MoEF&CC, presided over the event.
The conference provided a platform for officers to understand the updated code’s implications and recommendations, including the integration of modern tools and techniques into forest divisional Working Plans (WPs). Through introductory remarks and thematic sessions, attendees gained insights into the incorporation of Indian Forest Management Standards (IFMS) and the establishment of certification standards for sustainable forest management.
