The Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), in collaboration with GIZ Thailand, organised the Agriculture and Climate Change 101: Knowledge Management Training on 25 January 2024, at Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai, Bangkok. Insightful presentations were held by representatives from the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCCE), and Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO). Participants included stakeholders involved in agricultural activities related to climate change within the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MoAC), private sectors, international organisations and representatives from GIZ, totalling more than 250 individuals both online and onsite.

This training was designed to build the capacity of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MoAC) and line departments in addressing the critical intersection of climate change and the agriculture sector. Throughout the training, participants gained in-depth knowledge and understanding of operations related to climate change and greenhouse gas reduction efforts in Thailand’s agricultural sector, as well as developed an understanding of carbon credits in agriculture, carbon footprints for agricultural products, and strategies for coping with Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) measures.

The consolidation of various agencies involved units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) and organisations related to climate change, both from the public and private sectors, serving as a pivotal step toward realising Thailand’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing capacity, and preparing the agricultural sector and community networks for climate change.
