Task Forces 2023

OUR TASK FORCES

What is a Task Force?

It operates following the mandate set out by the German government and is categorised thematically under different Working Groups. In order to promote greater collaboration between and across relevant sectors, SNRD Asia and the Pacific has set up joint work clusters with other networks in the region, namely Sector Network Transport, Environment, Energy and Water in Asia (TUEWAS) and Sector Network Governance Asia (SNGA).

Digital Transformation

Digital Transformation is an ongoing process within GIZ. Following the work of the Task Force in 2022 to develop the list of existing tools, we want to create a platform where these tools are shared for possible replication and implementation. Digital Transformation Task Force will continue the work in 2023 with inter-linkage to Knowledge management Task Force between SNRD AP & TUEWAS to join forces in making data accessible, valid, and enhance the presentation through UX and UI.
  • To foster innovative solutions for transformative change
  • To boost knowledge management and transfer in SNRD AP & beyond
  • To collect, validate, and make available the tools and approaches being implemented by our member projects
  • To develop a knowledge management platform using UX/UI
  • To enable our colleague to use data for decision making
  • To design a prototype blockchain/emerging technology-powered mobile and web application

Agroecological Transformation

Agroecology is recognized as overarching approach for transforming unsustainable agriculture system towards more sustainability and circularity. At the same time agroecological transformation will make famers more resilient to climate change. Cross-sectoral and integrated approaches are required to shift from conventional agriculture to agroecology. The TF will focus on cross-project and cross-country knowledge exchange to explore how success stories and lessons-learnt can be used for south-south transfer and scaling across regions.
  • To foster innovative solutions for transformative change
  • To enhance cross-sectoral and integrated approaches
  • To boost knowledge management and transfer in SNRD AP & beyond
  • Exchange of ideas, challenges and success stories from across the countries and regions
  • Organize regular (proposed quarterly) knowledge sharing sessions on best practices based on implementation experiences

Blue Carbon

Blue Carbon means carbon sequestration in coastal and marine ecosystems such as mangroves and seagrasses and is internationally widely discussed as a climate change mitigation approach. Approaches on how to deal with Blue Carbon in development context needs political, financial, and technical innovative solutions while at the same time applying cross-sectoral and integrated approaches. Knowledge management and transfer will be crucial to develop ideas based on best practice and available scientific research.
  • To foster innovative solutions for transformative change
  • To enhance cross-sectoral and integrated approaches
  • To boost knowledge management and transfer in SNRD AP & beyond
  • Exchange of knowledge and political/financial strategies on Blue Carbon
  • A solid understanding of Blue Carbon is developed
  • Strategic and transferrable approaches for conserving and restoring marine ecosystems for CC mitigation/adaptation are developed

Climate Risk Financing and Insurance

The purpose of the task force activity is to conduct inventory of SNRD AP and SN Assets for Asia Projects with CRFI topics/objectives and understand the wealth of internal experience, expertise, and network of GIZ projects on the development and implementation of CRFI solutions. Moreover, projects with CRFI indicators are seeking advice on good practices.
  • To enhance cross-sectoral and integrated approaches
  • To boost knowledge management and transfer in SNRD AP & beyond
  • To inventory of SNRD AP and SN Assets for Asia Projects with CRFI topics/objectives.
  • To conduct knowledge exchange on CRFI (successful) interventions, partnership models and results-based management.
  • To synergize with the relevant working group/Task Force/Projects from the Assets for Asiaā€™s Green/Climate Financing and Financial Systems Development and Insurance groups.
