Landscape view of Bau Sau wetland, Cat Tien National Park

At the heart to safeguard the world’s amazing nature life protected and conserved areas. Only when management authorities and communities that live within or adjacent to these areas work closely together, conservation outcomes can be achieved. To recognise those areas that are demonstrating a high quality of their conservation performance, the Green List Standard was developed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2014.

Cat Tien National Park was recently recognised as the second protected area in Viet Nam under the Green List. GIZ as one of Cat Tien’s supporters would like to congratulate Cat Tien National Park for achieving Green List certification. GIZ has previously supported Cat Tien with their Sustainable Forest Management Plan and the work on the Sustainable Financing Strategy and the Sustainable Tourism Plan.

One highlight was the Site-level Assessment of Governance and Equity (SAGE), an approach that assisted Cat Tien in identifying governance challenges and potential actions to consider the needs of all relevant stakeholders in its management approach.
