On 25-26 April 2024, ASEAN conducted a knowledge-sharing workshop on mainstreaming climate action into sectoral planning. Hosted by Cambodian government and supported by German Government through GIZ CAP Project, the two-day workshop aimed to enhance capacity for mainstreaming climate adaptation and mitigation into sectoral planning and strengthen knowledge exchange within ASEAN member states.
This event brought together climate practitioners from different policy levels to share their experiences. The event highlights the importance of a multi-stakeholder approach in combating climate change.
On the first day of the event, participants from ASEAN Member States learned from each other’s experiences in coordinating climate adaptation and mitigation efforts in the land use sector. They then discussed effective strategies for developing cohesive climate plans at sub-national, national, and regional ASEAN levels.
On the second day, participants visited the Marine Fisheries Management Area (MFMA) to learn about Cambodia’s climate adaptation and mitigation programme in mangrove areas, developed by the Ministry of Environment and Sihanouk provincial government. They also met the fishery community surrounding the MFMA area.
