Participant placing a note on the board in a breakout group discussion

After the initial meeting in January, ASEAN organized the ASEAN Community-based Climate Action Workshop in Indonesia. The workshop aimed to evaluate community-based climate actions by ASEAN member states and address challenges in integrating community action into national climate strategies, promoting collaborative solutions across the ASEAN region.

The two-day workshop explored innovative approaches and mechanisms to enhance the alignment of community-based action with broader national climate policies.

After collecting workshop data, the next step is to hold a second workshop to discuss the strategy for promoting Community-based Climate Action in ASEAN countries, criteria for best practices replication, and knowledge sharing at regional and international levels.

This workshop is supported by the German Government and co-financed by the European Union as part of the ASEAN EU-German Climate Action Programme (CAP) implemented by GIZ. The workshop aligns with the project’s objectives, which aim to enhance regional cooperation among ASEAN Member States (AMS) to support the implementation of NDCs, climate mainstreaming, climate financing, and the acceleration of the transition towards renewable energy (RE) and increased energy efficiency (EE) in the ASEAN region.
