Dear Readers,

We kicked off the 2019 with an active approach to promote the cross-sectoral collaboration and innovations from SNRD Asia and the Pacific!

Our year started with the Joint Face-to-Face Steering Group Meeting between SNRD Asia and the Pacific & Sector Network TUEWAS to promote the cross-sectoral collaboration and to agree on future ways of working. The event was successfully held in Bangkok during 5-7 March 2019.

In 2018, there were some changes to the SNRD Asia and the Pacific STRG Committee with Silke Bommersheim taking up the position of the SNRD Asia and the Pacific Spokesperson. The Joint Secretariat was also welcoming the new members, Donaya Siamwalla, the Sector Network Manager and PR Officer, and Amornsiri Jiamworanunkul, the Office Manager.

A number of innovations funded by the internal annual grant were successfully carried out and the same mechanism will be implemented again in 2019. You can find more details about the results of the Working Group (WG) allowance from 2018 in the Spotlight section below. The WG allowance and the Innovation fund for 2019 has been announced with good participation from our Working Groups.

Another engaging event which is now in the planning process is “The Joint Face-to-Face Conference between the SNRD Asia and the Pacific and Sector Network TUEWAS.” The event is expected to happen in 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand. The theme selection is being concluded with the contributions from our members. More details to be shared in the next Newsletter.

Best regards,

Silke Bommersheim
SNRD Asia and the Pacific Spokesperson

SNRD Asia’s Working Group Allowance has given many ideas wings!

During the Joint Face-to-Face Steering Group Meeting in Bangkok, the Steering Group members agreed that the method used to support the WG in developing their knowledge product in 2018 will be repeated in 2019 with a slight adjustment to streamline the process and allow sufficient time for the application of the fund.

Each WG is entitled to 5,000 Euro and 2,500 Euro for the Joint WG. Once approved by the Steering Committee, the fund is available to support the WGs activities as stated in their proposal. In case the WGs do not make use of this entitlement, the fund will flow to a common pool where other WGs can bid for. This ensures that all budget will not go to waste whereas for initiatives that may require a higher amount of money, this can be of a great helping hand.
