“Management of Conflicts over Forest Resources Useā€

Wednesday, 28 March 2018 | 11:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. CET |Ā The webinar will be held in English.

In recent years, the scope and magnitude of conflicts over the use of forest resources have increased and intensified. These conflicts, if not addressed, can escalate into social unrest, cause environmental degradation and threaten livelihoods. GIZ assists stakeholders worldwide in managing and resolving disputes over forest resources.Ā 

The following questions will be addressed in the webinar:

  • What different models and approaches exist for managing, preventing and mediating conflicts over forest resources?
  • In practice, how do such models and approaches impact conflicts? What challenges arise during their implementation?
  • What wider implications do conflicts over forest resources entail and how does solving them impact the forest resources sector?

The following GIZ initiatives will present their lessons learned and best practices regarding the management of conflicts over forest resources use:

  • Forests and Climate Change Programme in Indonesia (FORCLIME), Johanna Riedmann
  • Forestry and Environmental Programme in Cameroon (ProPFE), Bakker Nongni
  • Sustainable Natural Resources Management in Madagascar (PAGE), Christian Burren
