The Thai-German Cooperation on Energy, Mobility and Climate (TGC EMC) Biomass component, in collaboration with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), successfully held the kick-off event for the TGC EMC Biomass project in Nakhon Sawan, the pilot area. The event aimed to raise public awareness about the effective management of agricultural residues from rice and sugarcane, converting biomass to energy, reducing pollution from agricultural burning, and providing farmers with alternative income sources.
Β
We received a warm welcome from the Governor of Nakhon Sawan, alongside key partners such as the Office of Agricultural Economics, the Department of Agricultural Extension, the Rice Department, the private sector, farmers and local communities which highlighted our collective commitment to sustainable agricultural practices.
Β
After the successful launch in the morning, the participants headed out in the afternoon to see a demonstration on post-harvest rice straw management.

The TGC EMC initiative is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany (BMWK) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI) to support Thailand’s carbon neutrality ambitions by 2050.
