The Indo-German CAFRI II project is advancing climate adaptation, resilience, and finance in rural India by bridging gaps between climate science, policy, and local action. A key milestone was a 1.5-day interactive workshop held on July 4–5, 2024, bringing together stakeholders from academia, research institutions, NGOs, and the private sector. This gathering promoted collaboration on integrating climate risk insights into local adaptation planning. Participants emphasized the need for integrated, holistic climate risk assessments that transcend siloed approaches. A consensus emerged to establish a Community of Practice that will meet quarterly, enabling ongoing collaboration and knowledge sharing. The importance of locally-informed adaptation planning was underscored, as it is essential for crafting effective, context-specific interventions. However, challenges in accessing comprehensive scientific evidence and specialized methodologies at the local level were acknowledged. The workshop fostered significant progress toward developing a replicable framework to empower communities to better understand and respond to climate risks.
