A delegation visit to three IKI Projects implemented in Northeast India was facilitated by the NERAQ Project from 27 April -2 May 2024. Representatives from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) comprising Ms Taina Dyckhoff, Head of Division for Climate and Environment, Ms Teresa Reubel, Policy Officer on Biodiversity for the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and Ms Gulbahar Abdurasulova, Policy Officer on Biodiversity Finance. Also, Ms Barbara Voss, Consul General, German Consulate General Kolkata and Ms Isha Dubey, Press and Economics Officer joined the delegation.
The delegates visited the NERAQ Project pilot sides, namely, Poilwa village in Nagaland, Khliehshnong in Meghalaya and Deepor beel in Assam together with IKI Living Lakes Biodiversity and Climate Project (LLBCP). The other IKI Projects visited were Lotus Progressive Centre in Nalbari, Assam, Living Root Heritage Conservation Initiatives, Revitalising traditional food and medicine in Meghalaya under the UNDP implemented North-East India Bio-Cultural Conservation Initiative (NEBI).

The visit enabled cross-learning among the IKI projects touching upon various topics like convergence of different political departments, scope of implementation through different IKI funding opportunities involvement of indigenous people and local communities (IPLC) and how the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework looks like on the ground.
