African Union Strategic Guidelines for the Coordinaetd Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources

///African Union Strategic Guidelines for the Coordinaetd Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources

The AU Strategic Guidelines for the Coordinated Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on ABS in Africa were adopted by the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN 15) in March 2015 and endorsed by the AU Executive Council Meeting in June 2015. The AU Strategic Guidelines and their accompanying AU Practical Guidelines were developed by a group of African experts under the auspices of the AU Commission’s Directorate for Human Resources, Science and Technology, with the financial and technical support of the ABS Initiative.

The two documents provide strategic and step by step technical and practical guidance with a view to assisting countries in developing and implementing national and (sub-)regional ABS strategies and policies as well as regulatory and institutional frameworks on ABS. A factsheet published by the ABS Initiative provides an overview of the AU Guidelines.
